Crafted With Care
There’s a rare kind of beauty that doesn’t need to announce itself. Bibi van der Velden’s jewelry lives in that space. Every piece begins with her hand-drawn sketch and a hand-carved wax model, grounding her work in traditional craftsmanship you can feel in every line and curve.
Her materials read like poetry: 18k recycled gold, baroque pearls, precious stones, and ancient elements like iridescent scarab wings and 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk. The result is fine jewelry with soul that’s unexpected, imaginative, and infused with history.
And always, there’s a secret: a hidden lock, a mechanism that moves, a tiny jaw that opens and bites its own tail. Each piece invites the wearer into a moment of discovery.
But what stays with me most is Bibi’s commitment to sustainability. Her manifesto is the most honest and inspiring I’ve seen and a reminder to me of one of my own why’s. Just one of them if I’m honest. And like Bibi, I promise that too.
