Still Beautiful Things…

I’ve decided to make a minor change to The Beautiful Things blog. I’ll try to keep this post concise and avoid an excessive explanation, as I have a lot to accomplish in a short time and don’t want to feel overwhelmed.

I enjoyed the idea of the vision board and even more so using it as a platform to truly highlight other people and their work that I find inspiring. However, I didn’t like the space it occupied. Unlike my other blogs, I’ve not felt the need or desire to delete or remove a post because they’re centered around me and my thoughts. Usually, there’s a lot of thought and consideration that goes into what I decide to publish there. Even my posts that are clearly reactive or responding to something I see in real time are because they’re related to something I’ve been thinking about and considering for a long time. When I found myself deleting posts here because I wasn’t sure something was aligned, or it became too much work to resolve, and I don’t want these blogs to take so much time and effort to craft I decided it was best to pivot. If these posts ever become too much work then that’s when I should really just sit down and outline and draft a book.

I’ve been thinking about this, and the possibilities of making the change for a few weeks. As I’ve progressed in my other work and really thought about this blog as an asset and what value it would bring to me and others, I realized I need a place to house my thoughts and learnings around design and design principles. So, this blog will still very much be about beautiful things and perhaps beautiful people as well. It’s just a slight change and a little update for those who may or may not notice.

Ciao.
